General Description

Situated in the centre of the lovely village of Cabrières d'Avignon, this old restored 16th Century house has been lovingly decorated and furnished with a blend of antiques and soft fabrics, creating a very comfortable feel. Arched and beamed ceilings add to the character of the villa, which has a wonderful, authentic ambience with its six bedrooms, four bathrooms and 4 bathrooms, and a swimming pool with its pretty walled garden creates an atmosphere of total tranquilly.

This property is made up of two attached houses: the main house and a guesthouse. Both houses are covered with vines and have access to a pretty walled garden (600 sqm - 6,400 sq ft.) with a swimming pool 9 m x 4 m secured by an alarm system.

The garden is equipped with comfortable furniture to lounge peacefully. There is a table for 12 on the terrace, shadowed by a large Plane tree. There is also a private street parking for 2-3 cars, guarded by a padlocked chain and an automatic floodlight.

First floor:
1/ Twin/double bedroom 2 x 0.90m beds and exposed beams on the ceiling, facing south and garden.
3 steps up to:
2/ Master double bedroom with four-poster 1.80m bed and en-suite bathroom with bath/shower, basin & WC, seating area, facing south and garden.
3/ Twin/double bedroom with 2 x 0.90m beds, facing north, exposed beams.
4/ Twin/double bedroom with 2 x 0.90m beds, facing north, exposed beams.

'Taxe de Sejour' (local authority holiday tax) payable locally to caretaker against a receipt - €2,53 per person per night (no charge for children under 13).

Local Area / Activities

Within 50 meters there is an excellent restaurant with an enclosed garden, 'Le Vieux Bistrot', which was famously mentioned by author Peter Mayle.

There is a bakery, a renowned butcher and a small grocer's, where you can even find some UK and US newspapers (visit them early, there are only a few copies of each). There are several good restaurants within 2 km from the village centre.

In nearby (2 km) Coustellet there is an excellent market for fruits, vegetables, flowers, wine etc. on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Coustellet also has a supermarket and numerous small shops.

This villa is ideally located to visit the region surrounded by some of the most stunning villages in the Luberon such as Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Fontaines de Vaucluse and the pretty village of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with its canals, narrow streets and antiques market, all within 15 to 20 km. It is a must to visit.

For a change of pace, the wonderfully vibrant and historic town of Avignon, with its magnificent Palais du Papes, is one of the architectural wonders of France that would make an ideal day trip, just 30 kilometres away.
