General Description

This really is the perfect hideaway for a family or a group of friends who would like a combination of relaxing and energetic holiday activities. The beautifully renovated 18th century farmhouse lies in a rural setting, its glorious landscaped grounds bordered by banks of sheltering trees.

Relax on the terrace or in the summer lounge by the heated swimming pool where the tennis court can be glimpsed at the end of a grassy pathway, lined by a sentinel of cypress trees. Explore the grounds and be delighted by the olive trees, the brightly coloured oleander hedges and the fragrant lavender field - take a book, coffee and croissant to sit beneath the shade of the ancient plane trees and imbibe a host of sensory delights.

The house itself provides every modern comfort and convenience whilst retaining much of its original character with carefully placed pieces of traditional furniture and artwork - in the high ceilinged sitting room is a mirror with a beautifully painted mantel above the fireplace. To preserve group harmony, you may have to draw lots for the very spacious master bedroom or the poolside annexe bedroom next to the summer lounge!

All this tranquillity rests in the alluvial plains of the Durance, in the heart of Provence and an excellent spot from which to explore the nearby hills and vineyards of Les Alpilles and the mountains of the Luberon. It's situated near a charming little Provençal village and only a short drive away from renowned St-Rémy-de-Provence.

Cavaillon is also nearby for strolling, shopping and the tourist office - it's known for its succulent melons in the summer and it's worth climbing the green St Jacques's Hill in the centre of the city for far reaching views over the surrounding plains, vineyards, hills and mountains. Also not far, hilltop Eygalières is one of the loveliest spots in Provence - there are just so many idyllic villages to visit both in Les Alpilles and the Luberon!

Family activities are plentiful, including horse riding, walking, mountain biking, canoeing and hot air ballooning. Further afield, the clear waters of the Côte Bleue, the pink flamingos of La Camargue, the UNESCO heritage sites of Avignon and many more of the wonders of Provence are within reasonably easy reach.
