General Description

Located in the heart of the Alpilles Regional Park, this charming property is a pretty little Provencal farmhouse from 1852 with all the equipment and comfort of a modern home, but it also offers much more… intimacy, serenity and pleasure.

The property is located 800m from the Château des Baux with an exceptional view, without vis-à-vis, in absolute calm in an olive grove of 4000 m². As soon as the sun shines, you can have your breakfasts and other meals on a pleasant south-facing courtyard terrace, sheltered from the mistral and shaded by a pergola, with a view of the imposing silhouette of the medieval castle of Baux in the background. Fields of olive trees and other Mediterranean species, basin style swimming pool 4m x 3m with 3 steps and a flat bottom of 1.10m x 7m, salt filtration, secured by an alarm and one can relax in peaceful tranquillity on comfortably sun loungers, a fountain nearby and the exposed stone walls and low walls, old tiled roof offer an exceptional and authentically Provençal setting. Local Area / Activities

This area of Provence boasts history and beautiful scenery not only of the Alpilles hills but also of the ruined castle that dominates the landscape surrounding Les Baux de Provence. The Castle can be traced back to the 10th century. The local people finally destroyed it in 1632 to bring an end to the centuries of conflicts, revolts, sieges and wars of religion, which had taken, place there. Today, quaint artisan shops and restaurants line the tiny cobbled streets.

A wider range of amenities can be found at Mausanne les Alpilles and at St-Remy-de-Provence, birthplace of Nostradamus, both of which are within easy reach of this villa. A 25 minutes drive north from the property is the medieval Papal city of Avignon, now a UNESCO World Heritage site and site of the world' s biggest gothic palace. The city of Arles is just to the southwest with an impressive Roman arena, once holding 20,000 spectators. This is the gateway to the wetlands of the Camargue with its diverse wildlife ranging from pink flamingos to white horses and black fighting bulls.
